So, as Stunch mentioned in his newest post, we shot a local event over the summer by the name of Social Apex Summer Fest.
So, sorry for the long delay. No really. I meant to get back to this sooner, but as we all know, life happens. Let's get on with it. I'm not one for doing a lot of food photography, however, there are times I will make exceptions. As previously mentioned, I'd picked up a new camera body and was excited to get it through its maiden voyage. The jump from the feature lite D40 to the feature packed D5200 in a bit of a shock to say the very least, however, the camera has enough power to make the transition relatively painless. As mentioned by the Stunch over at his blog, we'd gone out with my lady friend to have camera time at our local university. I'm going to stop talking and let the work show for itself, this time we had a lot of fun playing with aperture priority and messing around with manual settings and just some plain no flash mode.
So this entry is sort of a eulogy to the camera body that I'm retiring.
Oh Nikon D40, you wonderful entry level DSLR. You've been my go to for these past 6 years and have never failed me in regards to battery life or image sensor. You consistently pulled usable and beautiful images out of what little I gave you to work with, and for that, I thank you. I can say without any doubt that you helped me become a better photographer and for this I also thank you. However, it's now time that you take a break and I move on to bigger and better things. As the French say, "the king is dead, long live the king." As for the new kid on the block, I went ahead and purchased a Nikon D5200 body for a reasonable sum and shall be posting work from it in the very near future. This week, myself, my lady friend, and Dat Stunch went out tromping around a local university to play with his new Nikon N1/J1 that he picked up and to flog the ol' D40 and see what gems I could further tease out with limited hardware and manual focus. The night started out pretty simple, a well traveled route that normally kicks off our night and sets the tone for the evening. You get the picture (or maybe you don't). Darkness abounds save for the few flood lights and the ever present water feature. Lots of vibrant oranges and greens due to the lighting scheme and the flora make for some terribly interesting color combinations. However on this evening, we decided to take a little detour...
Welcome;
This is an online repository for the work under the slumberproject moniker. At this point in time, the content of the page is a bit low, this is due to the fact I'm having to watermark a great many images for your viewing pleasure. |
